Winter mist at Lees

Just a stroll from my home, this fenced bend attracts me like a moth to flame. Taken on the onset of our first snowfall of the winter of 2014/15

Cathedral of trees.

A re-post of the original November 7, 2014 up-load. - I thought this well worth re-looking at, as it was always one of my favourites on here. It also demonstrates to some tune, the tunnel that we are all going through with the Pandemic and to a lesser degree Ipernity. Hopefully, all will be restored to normal soon. In the meantime - just sit back, relax and enjoy! ~This very pleasant drive is actually called Station Road looking towards the Fox & Hounds Inn near the village of Lydford in Devon. Walking or indeed driving along here is almost awe-inspiring in this dappled light. I tried a few evenings to get this kind of lighting just right and I am afraid I never got that quite perfect. The mind boggles what it must be like with heavy snow, hoar-frost or that wonderful Autumnal gold. Enjoy! ~ Wishing you all a Happy New and safe Year

Ennerdale in Autumn

The banks of Ennerdale Water as can be seen here is a delight to explore and walk around. Especially in this Autumn lighting. Enjoy

Lone Autumn tree spotlighted.

Enjoy this scene which is fairly natural as the sun lit up the tree and foreground on this Autumn day. Moments later the scene was back in shadow.

The trees in mist

01 Nov 2015 9 6 357
There is something about these trees in this mist that suggest that they are on the move. For me, a grand subject, taken in my local park.

Deepest Rockies

16 May 2016 8 11 475
The Rockies between Banff and Lake Louise has many wonders. Here we are near Johnston Canyon. The trees, making a come-back after forest fires add a certain something to the deep ravine river.

Chew valley swing

An Autumn walk up this valleys draws me to a new addition. A bright cyan tree swing. Completely out of character with this beautiful nature shot but adding an addictive piece of interest.

Winter of Oldham, March 2016

04 Mar 2016 7 7 393
A walk from my home, this only about 10 minutes away can be a splendid experience, even in Winter. Here we see the results of our first real snows of this 2015/16 Winter and a day after it was almost all gone.

A popular tree walk

20 Apr 2018 20 29 636
Seen in the picturesque coastal village of Honfleur ,France. We see here a planted walkway, a million miles away from the medieval town and delightful harbour. Most people might pass this by in favour of the other delights of this town but for me, a feast for the eyes and soul. See PiP for my Cathedral of trees

Oh what a beautiful Winter

12 Feb 2018 13 18 656
There's something about snow and sun that makes it all worth it. We don't get too much of this here -when it snows, its dull and cold and miserable but on this day in our local park, the world was once again beautiful. Just a few hours of snow before a sudden thaw making my trip out, well worth it. Nb Three more beautiful shots taken at the same time. PiP (top left)

The light of the Tatra mountains

From the Rybi Potok Valley looking from Poland towards to Slovakia showing the beauty of light in these high mountain ranges. PiP

Mist layers from Gummer's How

03 Oct 2015 7 2 371
A little bit of imagination added to this but I hope it does not detract from the natural beauty of the moment. Gummers How is a famous viewpoint hill on the West side of our Lake Windermere.

Canal colours at Greenfield

Huddersfield canal in the Saddleworth village of Greenfield is always a pleasure to stoll along especially at the colourful time of year, my favourite.

Blakemere Moss in Autumn

A few days before the official Winter season, we see here Blakemere at its best with its yellow and golds. Its in the heart of Delamere Forest, Cheshire

A walk along Trow Gill

23 Mar 2017 14 11 454
Just north of the Yorkshire village of Settle, sits the smaller village of 'Clapham'. Amongst other delights it is the starting point of a magic trail called the 'Reginald Farrer' nature trail. The trail leads to another great attraction 'Ingleborough Cave' , a subject for more photography and chat. At its far end lies this gully lined by old dry stone walls and inhabited by sheep and walkers. Just behind me it is very steep indeed leading further to another famous spot, a pot-hole called 'Gaping Gill'. Not much to look at from the top but a cavers delight once the 100m decent has been made by pulley ropes and ladders. - A rather tranquil view here, displayed in mono to give it that ageless look that has abound here for millennium. More info-Gaping Gill: www.yorkshiredales.org.uk/visit-the-dales/discover-the-dales/caves-and-potholes/gaping-gill Trail and cave: www.yorkshirenet.co.uk/yorkshire-dales/clapham (See also the photo three up from here.) pip
