Mist and fog
Anybody that knows me photographically will know that I have always been a fan of misty mood photos. Mist to me conveys a quiet mysterious feeling. The secret is always to do with light and sometime too, the lack of it!
A misty walk

Not far from my home we have canals. Here at the Hudderfield canal in the Saddleworth village of Uppermill on can normally walk here in splendour. Today however, the mist has descended and its cold and wet. It doesn't stop folk from walking and exploring though.
A hazy day at Dovestones
A local walk for me as I wander around here once more. Dovestones reservoir in Greenfield near Oldham is the lowest of four reservoirs meeting here at Dovestones. Just in the distance here lies Yeoman Hey and beyond that Greenfield reservoir. In the feeder valley to this (Chew valley), at the very top, lies Chew reservoir, surrounded by high moorland. A beautiful gentle pram walk surrounds Dovestones and is taken advantage of by young and old alike.
A misty morning at Alexandra Park

As the morning mist rises from the water in my local park, the sun starts to show its head. Enjoy with me this moment of tranquillity whilst it last.
The trees in mist

There is something about these trees in this mist that suggest that they are on the move. For me, a grand subject, taken in my local park.
A Saddleworth Winter

Taken near the Saddleworth reservoir of Dovestones here in Lancashire UK, alas last Winter. Enjoy.
Novembers mist

As the nights grow colder, frost lies underfoot here in the North West of England and then the early sun melts away the frost giving this Winters fleeting mist.
The road to Glencoe

The road to Glen Coe is famous for many different things, not least its fabulous views. Here we are looking South East and witnessing the early morning mist being melted away.
Out into the mist

A new day here on the northern coast of Normandy, France. The mist comes and goes as this group sets of to walk alongside the very high and dangerous cliffs that lie just a few metres to the left. ..Some minutes later they retreated back having decided no doubt that it was a bit too dangerous, opting instead, like us, to take the safer steps down to the seaside town of nearby Etretat.
The white chalk cliffs of Étretat

As the mist swirls around this Natural Arch I am reminded again of the beauty of Mother Earth's sea boundaries.

A misty look at this beautiful chalk arch as we follow the fence. It did get brighter and clearer as the day drew on. Such a scene as this demanded a further visit, which we managed almost a week later in the sun but without the flavour we see here.
HFF to all, and enjoy your weekend, Herb

Autumn fence

Autumn is perhaps my favourite time of year for outdoor photography. I love the golden trees and the dappled sunlight as it burns through the early morning mist as demonstrated here.
Taken in my local park. Best viewed full screen.
I wish you all, a great weekend,Herb
Tatra Mountains vista
Taken from a horse-drawn wagon on its way through the Rybi Potok Valley and the famous Morskie Oko lake in the Tatra National Park, Poland. As can be seen low cloud obscured a lot of the mountain skyline but this peak stood out for me, just for a few seconds. Enjoy

Kasprowy Wierch, Poland
From the Tatra mountain resort of Zakopane, a cable car carries you quickly to the top of this mountain at 1987m (6519ft). As can bee seen here, the weather can be rather mountainous. I only managed a glimpse of these peaks for minutes between heavy mist, rain and cloud. Unfortunately our heavy schedule did not allow me to spend more than an hour or so up here. Although stood in Poland here, we are looking across to Slovakia.
ps deserves full screen view.
Nebel und Träume

Wandern in den hohen Bergen der Tatra kann voller Träume sein. Genießen Sie diesen Spaziergang mit mir hier.
Viele Grüße, Herbert
Mist & Dreams: Walking in the high Tatra mountains can be full of dreams. Enjoy this little hike with me here. Cheers, Herb
Mist layers from Gummer's How

A little bit of imagination added to this but I hope it does not detract from the natural beauty of the moment. Gummers How is a famous viewpoint hill on the West side of our Lake Windermere.
Wastwater Scree

Without a doubt, Wastwater, England's deepest lake (79m) is moody. Here we see the scree on its East shore. There is in fact a pathway, just above the bottom trees for those brave soles that wish to circumnavigate the lake.
Glimpse of Arrochar

As the early morning mist lifts over Loch Long and its mountains we see here a glimpse of the village. A real tourist trap for those visiting Loch Lomond and heading towards the Scottish West Islands too.
