Down town Fuengirola

A high view towards the inner town from our high-rise hotel. Seen here is the local express train to Malaga and its environs.
Havana Opera House
The old city of Havana in Cuba has much to offer the tourist. Here is the splendid Opera House: 'Gran Teatro de La Habana'. It was constructed to serve as a social center for Galician immigrants to Havana. The theatre has been home to the Cuban National Ballet and plays home to the International Ballet Festival of Havana. For me, if its dance and music is as good inside as the physical beauty of outside then it's a place indeed. Notice the typical 1950's auto-mobiles still in general use here.

The start of another Havana Grand Prix, maybe not but a glimpse of the traffic situation here in Havana old town Cuba it is. Lots of these vintage sedate cars around here. Quite refreshing to see.
Don't look now, we're being watched!

People who know me, also know I'm a bit of a techie. I have seen a few of these drones around and often thought that I would perhaps like to own one in order to take photos from a high vantage point, which also ties in with another of my hobbies 'Flight Simulation'. Never got round to buying one though as I thought its use my be misconstrued. I've never seen one in a city centre hovering next to their greatest and most important building before and therefore wonder what or who is it filming? Ah well, such is the modern world! ps the building is the National Capitol Building of Havana, Cuba.
Visions of Stranraer

The memorial to Queen Victoria erected in 1897, seen around the old castle in this port town of Stranraer in Scotland. This is actually a hdr three raw image edited with an artistic slant.

Deuville sur Mer fence!

Taken from Deuville looking across the river to Trouville sur Mer. They have built this splendid fenced boardwalk here for us tourist to wander about on and even hold photographic competitions for the best shot taken from the fence to be exhibited with their Tourist info office. For me, no such intentions but our good old HFF group, and you my viewers.
I wish you all, a great weekend,Herb

Miller Bridge, Kendal.
The Cumbrian town of Kedal has many bridges. Most of which hold some history and character. Here we see one of the main ones carrying the traffic of the A6 and connecting East and West of the town. Of course, I was not really bothered about that fact, but more the late lighting was my main aim here.
There are three masonry arch bridges in Kendal, of which Miller Bridge is the most recently constructed. Situated on the River Kent, it was built in 1818 by Francis Webster, a prominent Kendal stonemason (b.1767). Its robust construction protected it from the flooding that had destroyed previous bridges on the same site.
There was originally a timber bridge at this point on the river, connecting the town and the castle corn mill. Because the timber structure was repeatedly washed away by floods, it was rebuilt in stone in 1743, and again in 1818, the date of the present bridge. (http://www.engineering-timelines.com)
Belfast -City Hall
A look back on my trip here last year. A great structure and, as you can see, a very pleasant place to relax.
Belfast City Hall is the civic building of Belfast City Council located in Donegall Square, Belfast, Northern Ireland. It faces North and effectively divides the commercial and business areas of the city centre. First planned in 1888 and building started in 1898. Wikipedia
A portrait of Marden
The large village of Marsden as seen from the hills above is here dominated by its old woollen cloth factory called Bank Bottom Mill. This was one of the largest mills in Yorkshire, giving employment to 1900 workers. During the 1930s Bank Bottom Mill covered an area of 14 acres, employed 680 looms. As is the case of so many of these mills, it closed down in 2003 with the loss of 240 jobs.

Rule Britannia!

Surely proof that God smiles on Britain!!!!....If only..... Sorry about this very dated, politically incorrect title. We British are the first to mock ourselves you know.
Joking apart, this is a rather nice chance capture of a wonderful rainbow over the town-hall with its Union flag flying high, of Skipton, in the Yorkshire Dales. Said to be the Gateway to the Dales!
Enjoy
Cape Town

Sailing into the majestic South African city of Cape Town in idea conditions. Here we see, centre stage 'Table Mountain' with its cable-car station as a small blimp at the right-hand side of its flat top. To the right of this scene we also the 'Signal Hill' peak.
I was reminded of the the fact that I had not posted any of my African trips of 2014 on here (by seeing a shot by Rod Bally: www.ipernity.com/doc/rodbally/47622726/) and so I hope my viewers will forgave my indulgence now.

La Vila Joiosa Fence

This wonderfully coloured small town (Villajoyosa) in the province of Alicante, Spain is a joy to behold and wander through. We are here on the road from sea level on our way up to the centre of town which is depicted very nicely in this mural. As can be seen, a town of many fences of every description.
As usual, best viewed full screen on black.

Skopelos

SPC Roofs. A fleeting memory of the beautiful Greek Island of Skopelos from my trip here in 2012. Taken from our small tourist ship, arriving from Skiathos. All these wonderful buildings are looking over the gorgeous bay. A town of hundreds of churches that were once used as protection from pirates.

Urban- high fence

Walking along the Coastal Broadwalk of Paphos, Cyprus we can see fences where we would not expect to see them. Here between the ‘Alexandra the Great’ hotel and some apartments, up to the main road, is this attractive waterway. It is actually the outlet to the sea of the River Limnaria. I expect it can at times be a torrent. High above us is this fenced walkway that I unfortunately did not explore. It finishes as a dead-end just behind me.
I wish you all, a great weekend, Herb
