In Hannover war heute (10.11.) internationale Premiere eines Dokumentarfilms über Ecuador's Nationalpark Yasuni im Urwald.
Unter diesem Urwald liegt Öl. Wertvoll für ein armes Land, tödlich für Mensch und Natur wenn es gefördert wird
Der Ecuadorianische Präsident hatte der Welt 2007 ein Vorschlag gemacht gemacht: Die Weltgemeinschaft zahlt Ecuador die Hälfte der zu erwartenden Gewinne und das Öl bleibt unten. Ein in der Weltgeschichte bisher einmaliger Ansatz des Interessensausgleichs.
Nun, die Reaktion der Welt war aktionsloses Interesse. Hier setzt der Film an und will eine Visitenkarte des Landes abgeben und zeigen, was die Förderung von Öl im Urwald für die Natur und Menschen bedeutet, um für dieses Anliegen zu werben.
Der Film ist in meinen Augen...leider Mist. Zu lang und nicht präzise genug. Gerade in der ersten Hälfte wird man abwechselnd mit Fakten, Torismus-Bildern und Musikvideos lokaler "Künstler" bombardiert, die das Anliegen zwar untermalen sollen, aber irgendwie konterkarieren. Der Co-Produzent nannte es den Versuch einer Visitenkarte Ecuador. Hmm. Eine Visitenkarte wo drauf steht: "hier prima Umweltzerstörung!"?
Und doch empfehle ich diesen Film jedem. Ansehen und eigene Meinung bilden. Es gibt genug zu diskutieren!
Wo der Film tatächlich interessant wird, ist im letzten Drittel, in dem die Waorani Indianer zu Wort kommen, deren Lebensgrundlagen mehr und mehr zerstört werden.
Die Frage die sich stellt ist doch diese: wären wir - jeder einzelne! - bereit, auf ein kleines bischen Wohlstand zu verzichten, um der bereits vorhandenen Zerstörung nicht noch Vorschub zu leisten?
Der Co-produzent hat zum Schluß ein schönes Zitat gebracht: Unsere Eltern und Großeltern haben immer hart gearbeitet um ihren Kindern eine bessere Zukunft zu ermöglichen. Wir arbeiten gerade am dem Gegenteil.

Hannover hosted today (10.11.) the international premiere of a documentary film on Ecuador's Yasuni national park in the jungle.
Below this jungle is crude oil, valuable for a poor country, deadly for humans and nature when drilled for.
In 2007 the ecuadorian president made a proposal to the world: pay half of the expected revenues and the oil stays where it is. A unique approach to meet opposing intrests.
The world reacted to this proposal with intrest but without action. So here's the films intention to show what's at risk, showing how devastating drilling for oil in the jungle is for nature and humans and to promote the proposal.
In my eyes the movie is a fail. Too long and not precise enough. The first half bombs you with facts, tourism-prictures and music videos of local artists, meant to underline the issue, but somehow work against the whole thing. The co-producer called it sort of a "business card" of the country. Hmm, a business card saying "great destruction of nature to see!"?
Yet I still recommend this film. Go, see, think.
The last third ist the more intresting part as it shows the local indians, who really get pushed out more and more of their natural habitat.
The question to ask after this movie: are we - every single one of us! - willing to give up just a little of our prosperity to not continue the destruction shown?
The co-producer had a nice quote at the end: "Our Parents and Grandparents always workd for their children to have a better future. We're just doing the contrary."
