"With the Muslim ban, Trump has shown that the worst fears about his Presidency are true. Add your voice to the open letter below to join the resistance — then spread it far and wide:
----
Dear Mr. Trump,
This is not what greatness looks like.
The world rejects your fear, hate-mongering, and bigotry. We reject your support for torture, your calls for murdering civilians, and your general encouragement of violence. We reject your denigration of women, Muslims, Mexicans, and millions of others who don’t look like you, talk like you, or pray to the same god as you.
Facing your fear we choose compassion. Hearing your despair we choose hope. Seeing your ignorance we choose understanding.
As citizens of the world, we stand united against your brand of division."

This petition has already been reported on national news in the USA. I was reluctant to post a highly political article, but this is so important that I feel it must be done.

One should live in Harmony with Nature and all things Natural with respect for all beliefs and the believers of these.
He should be polite to his enemies.

As hopefully he will be.
Remember what Obama said. "Reality Bites"
So does Karma.
Have a choice!
Don't take me wrong:
My being against such a petition is not the same as supporting Mr. Trump.
I am merely against trying to overturn legitimate choice of Americans.
It is an anti-democratic way to do things.

I grew up in a small mining community. At that time miners had terribly hard jobs, but decent wages ( which they had fought for through unionised labour) and a profound sense of dignity and family. The children of miners went to good local schools and went on to free university places. Now, all too often, working in a call centre or a packing factory...being monitored each time you go to the loo...is the best people in that community can get. And housing! Kids can't afford, as we did, to get onto the first rung of the housing ladder.
Politically, what, in the UK is chiming with the understandable disaffection of the many who feel their lives are getting worse? UKIP, a nationalist, Right-leaning party. Like Trump and the GOP they blame every ill on immigration and globalisation. I believe that to blame social change and decay on immigrants is simply absurd. Controlled immigration, which both the US and the UK already hav, brings benefits, especially to an ageing society like the UK. Globalisation is a more complex issue.
So why do I feel optimistic about Donald Trump? Because he has already, inadvertently, begun to mobilise people to stand up and fight for the positive social changes that we all took for granted. That his election has shaken the political status quo, and made people like me, on the Left realise that we must do much better for the dispossessed in our own countries. Bernie Sanders offered a real alternative. Hilary, though I am full of respect...even love..for her bravery, intelligence and capabilities...offered more of the same.
It becomes more obvious by the day that Trump is not fit to govern. The fact that he lives by Twitter means that he will quickly be crushed by Twitter. In this country there's an old fashioned saying : " He couldn't organize a piss-up in a brewery." He won't last....but I hope he will pull the GOP down with him before he goes. He will have given nothing to the poor and forgotten who voted for him out of desperation and hope.
For me, the important lesson is for us not to belittle or forget the people in dead-end jobs in burnt out towns; the people who said Yeah! when Trump said "What have you got to lose?"
Unfortunately, they will get nothing from Trump.(Though at least I hope he will start seriously investing in infrastructure....not the Wall, of course, which is an absurdity...) Trump is at present more concerned with acting like an Emperor on the world stage. He looks ridiculous.
Yes, the GOP has unprecedented power, but they find themselves saddled with a President who is unmanageable. My big fear is that Trump will go too quickly and the truly frightening Mike Pence will take over. That would really unhinge the good ol' US of A.
Diane Putnam club has replied to Steve Bucknell clubHere's a hard truth: those mining and manufacturing jobs aren't coming back and no politician can re-tool and re-start enormous factories or mines. So, now what? How about fixing our rotten infrastructure and a big effort to retrain people for switching the whole country to renewable energy? The GOP will never do the latter, though they have mentioned the first without any plan or enthusiasm.
The US needs more science and less religion. The reverse, as planned by much of the GOP and their voters, will kill us all. I'd rather my cat be president than Trump, but the little bugger didn't file his paperwork on time. Since we're stuck with him for now, at least he's making a bigger fool of himself everyday. I predict things will get a lot worse before they get better. Demonstrations, social media, phone calls and mail to gov't representatives are non-stop. (Oh, yes, so is The Don's ridiculous tweeting!) Major network news reporters are saying things like (re: a Trump remark), "Kellyanne, how can you defend a statement that is a lie? That is a proven falsehood!"
Hehehe...
